INTRODUCTION TO SNOWKITING

lake Simcoe north of Torontolake Simcoe

This lesson is an orientation to the sport of traction kiting. The objective of the course is to learn to control and maneuver a ram air foil kite.

First part of the day, you will be using a trainer kite to learn to launch, fly, and control a four line traction kite. Later in the day, you will learn to use the kite to generate power to pull you across the snow or ice on skis or a snowboard. Depending on conditions and your abilities you may also learn to steer and tack upwind!

This course takes place in Barrie, Kempenfelt Bay or in Cook's Bay, Lake Simcoe, Ontario, depending on ice and snow conditions. Kiting equipment is supplied, you supply your own downhill skis (old straight edges are the best kind) or a snowboard, boots and a helmet.

Duration of a lesson is approximately 4 hours.
